Gwangju Seo-gu 'Yeongsangang Seochang Field Silver Grass Festival' Kickoff Meeting Held

Gwangju Seo-gu 'Yeongsangang Seochang Field Silver Grass Festival' Kickoff Meeting Held

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Seo-gu District Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim I-gang) announced on the 5th that it held a kickoff briefing session for the ‘7th Yeongsangang Seochang Field Silver Grass Festival Event Agency Service’ at the Deulbul Hall of the district office on the 4th.

The kickoff briefing session was held with the attendance of about 20 people, including local resident representatives, related departments, and local cultural experts.

The Seochang Field Silver Grass Festival, selected as Gwangju Metropolitan City's representative festival in 2022, ranks in the top 6% among more than 1,000 festivals nationwide evaluated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This year’s festival, to be held from October 7 to 10 around the Yeongsangang Bicycle Path Information Center, will be held for the first time in three years since the outbreak of COVID-19 under the theme “The True Heart of Autumn Delivered by Silver Grass.”

The festival will feature various programs including Yeongsan-gil games created directly by citizens at the Citizen Festival School, an opening performance by CEO Lee Young-min, nighttime landscape creation using media art, and a sale festa linked with the commercial district near the festival site.

Unique programs not seen in other festivals, such as walking along the silver grass path with music, a nighttime media art photo zone, and the Secret Circle (a program where visitors can experience silver grass 360 degrees), will also be prepared.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy various experiences using silver grass such as a silver grass field photo zone, zero waste fair, reusable container experience, and upcycling experience, as well as educational programs on ecological environment.

Kim I-gang, mayor of Seo-gu, said, “The festival will be one that harmonizes nature and environment, fitting the image of an ecological environment festival,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the silver grass festival continues to grow as a representative festival of the Yeongsangang River.”
