[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Mokpo Coast Guard urgently transported a tourist in his 40s who fell while fishing on a breakwater in an island village to the mainland.

According to the Mokpo Maritime Police Station on the 5th, at around 9:37 a.m. that day, a tourist A (male, in his 40s) who came to Sangtaedo, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, fell while fishing on the breakwater with his party and sustained injuries all over his body. The police received a report and dispatched a patrol boat immediately.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Coast Guard checked A’s condition and found serious injuries including fractures to the shoulder, ribs, and leg, as well as facial abrasions. They provided emergency treatment such as bandaging the fractured areas to immobilize them.

Then, the Coast Guard boarded A and his party onto the patrol boat, continuously monitored the patient's condition, and quickly moved to Seomang Port in Jindo-gun, arriving at around 2:20 p.m. that day, and arranged for transfer to a hospital on the mainland.

Thanks to the Coast Guard’s assistance, A was transferred to a large hospital in Mokpo, is currently receiving treatment, and is reported to be in stable condition without life-threatening injuries.

A Mokpo Coast Guard official urged, “When fishing on breakwaters or rocky shores, falls can lead to serious accidents, so always pay close attention to safety.”
