Heatwave and COVID-19 Resurgence... Ulleung-gun Ulleung-eup Office Steps Up Support for Vulnerable Groups

Officials from related organizations of the visiting customized welfare service are holding a countermeasure meeting to prepare for the heatwave.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kyungho Ahn] The Ulleung-eup Office in Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, has taken steps to support vulnerable groups in preparation for the ongoing heatwave.

The Ulleung-eup Office has decided to actively provide customized welfare services by visiting low-income vulnerable households facing crises such as the heatwave and the resurgence of COVID-19.

To this end, related agency officials recently held an emergency meeting to discuss care services for elderly living alone, promotion of refraining from outdoor activities during heatwaves for vulnerable groups, promotion of cooling shelters, and encouraging interest from eup/myeon council members.

Choi Hagyu, head of Ulleung-eup, stated, “Due to the impact of the heatwave and COVID-19, difficulties for vulnerable groups are expected to increase, so we plan to actively visit residents at risk and take safety measures.”
