Purple Marketing, Collaboration with BTS
Galaxy Watch 5 Focuses on Health Management Features
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Samsung Electronics' next-generation foldable smartphones, the ‘Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4,’ will be unveiled in 5 days. Centered around the key color ‘Bora Purple,’ the company will leave a strong impression of the powerful foldable experience worldwide through collaboration with the official promotional model, BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan).
According to industry sources, Samsung Electronics announced through the ‘Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022’ video invitation that the event will be held online at 10 PM on the 10th (Korean time). The new Z series models, Z Fold4 and Flip4, along with the ‘Galaxy Watch5,’ are expected to be revealed.
The Z Fold4 and Flip4 are expected to maintain a design similar to their predecessors, the ‘Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3,’ but with improvements to characteristic drawbacks such as hinge creases and battery capacity. The Z Fold4 is anticipated to have a shape closer to a perfect square than its predecessor. It will feature a 7.6-inch internal display and a 6.2-inch external AMOLED display, with a lighter weight. The battery capacity remains the same at 4400mAh. The camera will be equipped with a 50-megapixel main sensor, and the S Pen is not expected to be built-in. The Z Flip4, which received great response from the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) last year, will have a similar size of 6.7 inches, with the battery expected to increase by 400mAh to 3700mAh compared to the previous model. Charging speed will also increase 1.6 times from 15W to 25W.
Samsung plans to operate experiential pop-up stores simultaneously with the online Unpacked event from the 11th to the 31st in the heart of the Meatpacking District in Manhattan, New York, and Piccadilly Circus in London, UK. Samsung will also showcase the latest foldable video featuring BTS’s new song ‘Yet to Come’ at global landmarks including New York’s Times Square.
Samsung is scheduled to officially launch the two new foldable phones on the 26th of next month, with pre-orders running for one week from the 16th to the 22nd. The price of the Z Fold4 will be frozen at the previous model’s level, below 2 million KRW. The expected price range is 1,998,700 to 2,097,700 KRW.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch5, expected to be unveiled together, is presumed to have minimal design changes and, like the foldable phones, will focus on improvements in battery life, charging speed, and enhanced health management features.
