Neorigin Enters World's Largest eSports Market China... Revenue Sources Include 'Advertising Revenue, Game Streaming'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Neorigin is entering the world's largest eSports market, China, which has over 420 million users.


Neorigin announced on the 4th that MJ Team, affiliated with the eSports corporation 'Miaojing Sports Company' established locally in China, has secured a spot in the Chinese professional league for the game 'League of Legends (LOL)'.


Neorigin's local subsidiary in China, Miaojing Sports, has started operating an eSports team business in China. The main businesses include player training and management, advertising revenue, and game broadcasting, which are expected to become new sources of income. They plan to actively promote the entry of Korean professional gamers, from the global eSports powerhouse Korea, into China. The company aims to leap forward as a comprehensive entertainment company and strengthen its competitiveness as a global gaming company.


A Neorigin official stated, "We plan to establish a talent development system by combining the competitiveness of both Korea and China and support the entry of outstanding Korean talent into China." He added, "We expect to benefit from the rapidly growing Chinese eSports industry."


The official also added, "In Korea, we plan to hold a national tournament for 'Fortress M' in collaboration with our strategic partner CCR," and "We will enhance game marketing and awareness."


The Chinese eSports industry is rapidly growing in line with government policies aimed at developing the digital economy and the overall cultural industry. According to the '2021 China eSports Industry Trend Report' published by the Korea Creative Content Agency, the Chinese eSports market size last year reached approximately 500 billion KRW (385 million USD), surpassing North America and Europe to become the world's largest market.


The number of users enjoying eSports is also increasing to one of the highest levels worldwide. According to Tencent eSports' '2021 China Sports Industry Development Report,' the number of eSports users in China is expected to reach 425 million this year.
