[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Following news of a hack on the cryptocurrency 'Solana,' major domestic cryptocurrency exchanges in South Korea have suspended deposits and withdrawals of Solana (SOL) on the 3rd.
Cryptocurrency exchange Upbit announced in a notice that "Due to an issue with the Solana network, deposits and withdrawals of Solana (SOL), STEPN (GMT), and Raydium (RAY) will be temporarily suspended," adding, "Deposits and withdrawals will resume once network stability is confirmed."
Other domestic exchanges such as Bithumb, Coinone, and Korbit also suspended Solana deposits and withdrawals on the same day.
Solana is an altcoin ranked within the top 10 by market capitalization. According to cryptocurrency information site Coindesk, a hacking attack occurred on the Solana network, and it is estimated that more than 8,000 wallets have been affected so far.
