[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] Dongkuk Steel visited the 2nd Rapid Response Division, with which it has a "One Company, One Military Unit" sisterhood relationship, on the 3rd to deliver consolation money and encourage the soldiers.
The consolation money delivery ceremony was held with the attendance of Dongkuk Steel Vice Chairman Jang Se-wook, 2nd Rapid Response Division Commander Pyo Chang-soo, and other officials. Considering the COVID-19 situation, the scale of the event and the number of attendees were minimized.
At the ceremony, Dongkuk Steel Vice Chairman Jang Se-wook said, "I am always grateful to the soldiers who silently endure the hot summer to protect national security," and added, "The company will continue to provide support to maintain the valuable relationship with the 2nd Rapid Response Division."
Dongkuk Steel is a participating company in the campaign to strengthen civil-military ties called "One Company, One Military Unit." Dongkuk Steel established a sisterhood relationship with the Army's 2nd Division in 1984, which was interrupted in 1995 but resumed in 2012 through participation in the "One Company, One Military Unit" campaign. This year marks the 11th year of support. Along with consolation money, Dongkuk Steel has provided sports equipment and automated external defibrillators and has specially hired officers who graduated from the unit. Even after the 2nd Division's Nodo Unit was newly established as the 2nd Rapid Response Division last year, Dongkuk Steel has maintained continuous exchanges.
