Olacare, a non-face-to-face medical consultation and medicine delivery platform, hosted a strategic forum on the 28th by inviting Dr. Choi Jeonghwan, a big data advisory board member of Teladoc, the global No.1 telemedicine company.
Through this forum, Dr. Choi introduced Teladoc's telemedicine data utilization cases and future business expansion plans to Olacare employees, and presented the business strategies that enabled Teladoc to grow into the world's leading telemedicine company.
Teladoc, established in the United States in 2002, has 10,000 medical professionals and 78.5 million members. Among them, 53.6 million are paid members, with 4.4 million annual consultations, securing a 70% market share in North America. It is well known as the global No.1 company with one in six Americans using Teladoc services.
On this day, Dr. Choi highlighted Teladoc's core growth strategy, such as acquiring related companies through mergers and acquisitions (M&A), exemplified by the recent acquisition of Livongo, a leading U.S. chronic disease management healthcare company, to secure a diverse customer pool. He emphasized achieving fundamental competitive advantages based on integrated analysis of personal medical big data. Especially, he stressed that systematic preparation for collecting, analyzing, and utilizing medical big data according to the consumer journey from the early stages of telemedicine, as in Korea, will be an important source of future competitiveness.
Additionally, Dr. Choi discussed Olacare's business expansion and platform advancement directions, advising on the importance of chronic disease, mental health, and health management sectors, as well as infrastructure expansion to secure related data.
Kim Seonghyun, CEO of BlueAnt Co., Ltd., which operates Olacare, said, “This strategic forum was a meaningful opportunity not only to benchmark the advanced cases of Teladoc, the global No.1 in non-face-to-face medical consultation, but also to explore Olacare’s development direction considering the Korean medical environment.” He added, “We plan to seek various business cooperation methods, including strategic alliances with Teladoc headquarters, and will promptly promote visits of key Olacare executives to Teladoc’s U.S. headquarters.”
