Technology Applied for the First Time in the T-Commerce Industry

Shinsegae Live Shopping Opens Digital Studio 3.0... "AR Broadcast Streaming" Shinsegae Live Shopping is conducting broadcasts applying augmented reality (AR) technology.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Shinsegae Live Shopping announced on the 2nd that it will introduce ‘Digital Studio 3.0’ applying augmented reality (AR) technology.


The biggest feature of Digital Studio 3.0 is AR broadcasting. AR broadcasting is based on the principle of combining actual sets (background LED, exhibits) with virtual products and environments. It is a technology applied for the first time in the T-commerce industry, involving a process of designing the screen in advance and then converting it into AR video suitable for 3D modeling and equipment. During filming, broadcasting production can also be directed in real time within the virtual space.


The 3D virtual set linked with the industry’s largest digital wall (26m wide, 3.2m high, 8k resolution) is realized on screen in real time through a digital tracking device attached to the camera. This allows the limited physical space and background to be expressed much larger, and actual buildings or backgrounds can be implemented with realistic effects.


Shinsegae Live Shopping plans to produce AR videos at its own expense and utilize them in broadcasts, enabling partner companies to enjoy various effects without the burden of additional space production costs.


A Shinsegae Live Shopping official said, “Through the newly opened Digital Studio 3.0, we plan to provide differentiated visuals that have been difficult to see in home shopping broadcasts,” adding, “We will continue to lead the industry’s broadcast production by applying various digital new technologies.”
