Replacement of 1km Aged Wooden Deck with Palm Mats and New Decks by September
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting a trail maintenance project including the Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea colony.
As part of the Hwangmaesan tourism infrastructure development project, the county will carry out grass cutting and vine removal work along a 1.3 km forest road section from the No. 1 parking lot to Hwangma Fortress and a 2.5 km section of major trails around Dolpak Spring.
In particular, by September, the county will replace 1 km of aging wooden decks on the trails with new decks and coir mats.
The county will partially restrict access to the trails during the maintenance work. However, detour trails will remain available for use.
Hwangmaesan in Sancheong is known as the best royal azalea colony in the country in spring and is loved by hikers for its silver pampas grass in autumn.
The county plans to continue the Hwangmaesan maintenance project to ensure it becomes a safe and pleasant forest recreation area.
County Governor Lee Seung-hwa said, “Please do your best to ensure smooth project progress and safety management during the work,” adding, “We will also steadily prepare measures to provide an eco-friendly resting space for tourists visiting Hwangmaesan and to revitalize the local economy.”
