[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LG Electronics announced that starting from the 1st, it will offer a service allowing customers to rent the plant lifestyle appliance 'LG Tiun Mini' at CU convenience stores for up to 900 KRW per day.
LG Electronics revealed on the same day that it will provide the service in collaboration with 'Aroundable,' a startup operating the convenience store product rental application 'Pick & Pick.' LG Tiun is a plant lifestyle appliance designed to help customers who struggle with plant care easily grow flowers, vegetables, herbs, and more at home.
The service operates by selecting the desired rental period of 35, 70, or 95 days through the app and then picking up the product at a CU convenience store. The rental fee ranges from 500 to 900 KRW per day, varying depending on the rental period. Seed kits must be purchased separately. Customers who apply for rental receive a 1,000 KRW discount coupon for the kit package.
Immediate pickup is possible if the store has stock. Initially, customers can pick up the product at 42 CU convenience stores in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. LG Electronics plans to increase the number of pickup stores.
LG Electronics believes this service will attract the interest of younger customers, including the MZ generation, who prefer experiences and rentals. They expect that customers who rent the Tiun Mini will eventually purchase the product.
Earlier, LG Electronics introduced the Tiun 'Mini' in March. It was made smaller and more affordable to encourage more customers to start plant lifestyle activities. Following guidance from the LG ThinQ app, anyone can easily grow plants by simply providing water and nutrients. The app allows users to observe the entire growth process, from sprouting to the emergence of leaves and further development.
Shin Sang-yoon, CEO of LG Electronics Sprout Company, said, "We will lead the plant lifestyle culture by carrying out various activities to allow more customers to experience 'LG Tiun,' which has become synonymous with plant-growing appliances."
