[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang Cultural Foundation will hold ‘Percussion Fantasy Tong·Gong(空)·Gi(氣)·Gyeol(結)’ as part of this year’s ‘Culture Sharing Project with Arts Centers Nationwide’ on August 6th at 7 PM at the Pohang Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater.
The ‘Culture Sharing Project with Arts Centers Nationwide’ is a program organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Centers Association to provide various cultural and artistic programs to residents across the country, contributing to cultural enjoyment and the revitalization of arts centers. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council, with part of the funding supported by the Arts Promotion Fund.
‘Percussion Fantasy Tong·Gong(空)·Gi(氣)·Gyeol(結)’ is a work produced and supported by the Wonju Cultural Foundation and performed by the Wonju Maeji Nongak Preservation Society. It has been selected for four consecutive years as an ‘Excellent Performance Program by National and Public Art Groups’ in this year’s Culture Sharing Project with Arts Centers Nationwide.
The work utilizes Wonju Maeji Nongak, Gangwon Province Intangible Cultural Property No. 18, embodying the local culture and spirit of Wonju. It is a performance that modernly reinterprets traditional and contemporary percussion performances and consists of five acts, including Arirang.
The piece harmonizes the taepyeongso expressing the primordial resonance, the dynamic and progressive spirit expressed through the daebuk performance, and the gayageum, haegeum, and piri instruments to create a unified composition. Additionally, the collaboration of drums, percussion, and synthesizer adds a unique element of fun.
A representative of Pohang Cultural Foundation said, “We hope people gain new vitality this hot summer through high-quality traditional arts,” and added, “We ask for your great interest and participation.”
Tickets for the performance are priced at 15,000 KRW for all seats, with a special discounted price of 10,000 KRW for Pohang citizens. There are also various discounts ranging from 20 to 30%. Tickets can be reserved through the Pohang Cultural Foundation website and Ticketlink.
