[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Doosan Robotics is embarking on the development of collaborative robot solutions that can be utilized at construction sites.

On the 28th, Doosan Robotics signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samsung C&T Construction Division at Bundang Doosan Tower in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, to develop and apply collaborative robot solutions for the construction sector.

Through this agreement, both companies will cooperate on ▲developing collaborative robot solutions for construction site execution ▲securing system integration (SI) capabilities specialized for the construction field ▲robot technology consulting, among other areas.

Last November, the two companies jointly developed an access floor construction solution, and Doosan Robotics is currently developing a steel bolting construction solution that connects steel structure joints with bolts. Going forward, by developing collaborative robot solutions capable of handling high-risk, simple repetitive tasks, they plan to enhance safety and construction efficiency at construction sites.

Ryu Jeong-hoon, CEO of Doosan Robotics, stated, "Collaborative robots can be the optimal solution to ensure safety in high-risk, simple tasks at construction sites," adding, "By expanding our business scope from manufacturing and services to the construction sector, we will lead the activation of the domestic and international collaborative robot markets."

Kim Jae-ho, Vice President of Samsung C&T, said, "Developing construction robots is essential not only to eradicate safety accidents but also to address issues at construction sites such as productivity improvement and labor shortages due to aging workforce," and added, "Starting with collaboration with specialists possessing advanced robotics technology, we plan to build a construction robot ecosystem that can cooperate with workers on construction sites."
