[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) has completed a preliminary on-site inspection to ensure residents can safely enjoy the children's water play areas, which are sequentially opening from the 27th, and has begun regular safety facility inspections.
This inspection aims to prevent accidents during the operation period as the water play areas, which were suspended due to COVID-19, reopen after three years.
Accordingly, the district established the 'Basic Safety Management Plan for Children's Water Play Areas,' built a network of related organizations with situation-specific measures and emergency contact systems, and is focusing on safety management with disaster safety experts from July 25 to August 16.
The inspection targets include two representative water play areas (Dongjak Parking Lot and Seoul Samsung School) and four regional water play areas (Songhak Grand Park, Sedae Gonggam Water Play Area, Chamsae Children's Park, and Bingsugol Park).
First, a comprehensive situation room is set up at each water play area to operate 24 hours a day. Its main roles are ▲ maintaining a linkage system with the Regional Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters operation team ▲ immediately requesting cooperation from related organizations such as police, fire stations, and hospitals ▲ initial response including guiding evacuation of users and managing on-site accidents in case of incidents.
Additionally, the facilities are divided by parts to systematically manage pools, slides, water quality, traffic, parks, emergency patient treatment, and transport support daily. In particular, to provide clean water quality, all water in the pools is replaced daily.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, users are guided to follow quarantine rules such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Consumption of food within the water play areas is recommended to be avoided as much as possible, and only beverages are allowed for sale.
All facilities operate free of charge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis without reservations, considering appropriate capacity. If the COVID-19 situation worsens, operation will be reduced to 70-50% of maximum capacity or closed.
For other matters related to water play area safety management, inquiries can be made to the comprehensive situation room.
Lee Jeong-rye, Acting Disaster Safety Officer, said, "As the peak vacation season approaches, we will thoroughly inspect facility management to ensure children can safely enjoy water play in a clean environment and immediately address any deficiencies found."
Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) hosted a visit from the Singapore Economic Development Board on the 26th at the Suyu Urban Regeneration Support Center.
The Singapore Economic Development Board, a government agency under Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, visited the Suyu Urban Regeneration Support Center to share urban regeneration policies, best practices, and knowledge related to regional regeneration between the two countries.
The event was held at the 'Bballaegol Living Culture Workshop,' created as part of the Suyu 1-dong urban regeneration project. About 30 participants attended, including executives from the Singapore Economic Development Board, officials from Seoul City, and the Suyu Urban Regeneration Support Center.
The representatives from both countries shared and continued exchanges on ▲ Seoul City's urban regeneration policies ▲ progress and resident participation processes of the Suyu 1-dong urban regeneration project ▲ Singapore Economic Development Board's regional regeneration policies and cases.
Afterward, the schedule concluded with a tour of Suyu 1-dong's anchor facilities, the 'Bballaegol Living Culture Workshop' and the 'Bballaegol Youth Space Morak.'
The Singapore Economic Development Board has been continuing exchanges for urban regeneration information sharing, including visits to the Suyu urban regeneration site since April.
Suyu 1-dong was selected as an excellent project site in the '2022 Urban Regeneration Project Performance Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in July.
Gangbuk-gu Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, "The outstanding achievements made by the active efforts of Gangbuk-gu urban regeneration project officials have attracted overseas interest. We will continue to support the development and growth of Suyu 1-dong without hesitation."

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) will operate a temporary screening clinic at Myeonmok Station from the 27th to protect residents' safety amid the ongoing spread of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 call center operated by the district will also resume operations from July 29.
Accordingly, the district will operate two locations: the Jungnang-gu Public Health Center screening clinic and the Myeonmok Station temporary screening clinic. The Myeonmok Station temporary screening clinic will operate from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Friday and will be closed on Saturdays and public holidays. The Public Health Center screening clinic will operate normally on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays as before.
PCR testing targets include those who test positive on rapid antigen tests, seniors aged 60 and over, close contacts, and overseas entrants. Those not in priority groups can receive rapid antigen tests at local clinics.
Along with the reopening of the temporary screening clinic, the COVID-19 call center will start operations from July 29. It will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing information on screening clinic hours and testing, confirmed case counseling and isolation period guidance, respiratory patient treatment center (in-person and remote) guidance, PCR test result text notifications and inquiries, PCR testing for overseas entrants, and vaccination reservations.
The district is also promoting participation in the fourth vaccination dose. Eligible groups include those aged 50 and over, individuals aged 18 and over with underlying conditions or immunocompromised status, and residents, inpatients, and workers in infection-vulnerable facilities. Vaccination pre-registration can be done via the pre-registration website or the Disease Control Agency call center, with scheduled vaccinations starting August 1. Same-day vaccinations are possible at 125 local clinics in Jungnang-gu if leftover vaccines are available.
Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said, "To respond to the COVID-19 resurgence, we have reopened the temporary screening clinic and resumed the call center. We will do our utmost to protect residents' safety through quarantine efforts. As the spread of infectious diseases is a concern, we ask everyone to thoroughly manage personal hygiene and voluntarily practice social distancing to protect their precious families."
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will resume operation of the Cheongnyangni Station temporary screening clinic from the 29th amid growing concerns over the spread of COVID-19 in the community due to the recent increase in confirmed cases.
The Cheongnyangni Station temporary screening clinic will operate from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and Sundays (including public holidays), excluding Saturdays. On Saturdays, residents can use the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center screening clinic.
Testing targets include seniors aged 60 and over, those who test positive on rapid antigen tests, and individuals for whom COVID-19 testing is deemed necessary by a physician at a medical institution. Rapid antigen tests are not available at the temporary screening clinic; only PCR tests (polymerase chain reaction tests) are provided.
Notably, this temporary screening clinic operation is expected to provide more accurate and safer medical services through collaboration with Seegene Medical Foundation, a specialized private company, under a business agreement.
Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, "As the spread of COVID-19 continues and the number of people getting tested increases, we will actively respond and do our best to manage the screening clinics so residents can get tested smoothly."
The Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center screening clinic will extend its operating hours from the 30th, operating from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and also from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and public holidays.
