Jeongeup-si Establishes One-Stop Medical System to Respond to COVID-19 Resurgence

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province is establishing a medical response system and launching emergency measures, including operating one-stop medical institutions, as the COVID-19 resurgence intensifies.

According to the city on the 26th, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this month (from the 1st to the 26th) reached 1,023, more than four times the 245 cases confirmed last month. With the summer vacation season without social distancing now in full swing, there is significant concern about the rapid spread of COVID-19.

Accordingly, the city will expand and operate Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers capable of providing one-stop medical services as a countermeasure against the spread of COVID-19.

The Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers unify and rename the previously functionally dispersed respiratory clinics, designated respiratory medical institutions, and outpatient treatment centers.

The city has designated 24 centers so far and plans to continuously recruit new hospitals and clinics to participate as Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers.

At the Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers, patients can receive one-stop services including COVID-19 testing, face-to-face or non-face-to-face medical consultations, and prescription of therapeutics all at once.

The more one-stop medical institutions there are, the more stable treatment can be expected within the general medical system even if confirmed cases increase.

Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers in the region can be checked through announcements from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service or the Jeongeup City Public Health Center website.

A public health center official stated, “If symptoms occur during home quarantine, patients can visit the Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers to receive prompt medical care and, if necessary, be prescribed therapeutics. We will continue to expand and operate the Respiratory Patient Treatment Centers so that citizens can quickly receive treatment and care.”
