2.06 Billion KRW Delivered for Obstetrics and Gynecology Operation at Gurye-gun Health and Medical Center
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun (Governor Kim Sun-ho) announced that on the 18th, it held a donation ceremony with the Nature Dream Seed Foundation.
Gurye-gun and the Nature Dream Seed Foundation signed a donation agreement in 2014 to expand public health care services for Gurye residents and have held donation ceremonies annually to support the obstetrics and gynecology operating expenses of Gurye-gun Health Medical Center.
As a result, compared to before 2014 when there were no obstetrics and gynecology specialists in the area, residents' satisfaction has improved year by year.
Before 2014, with support from the Jeonnam Provincial Government, obstetrics and gynecology treatment was provided twice a month for three hours each morning inside a bus.
Residents who missed the timing and could not receive treatment on the day had to endure the inconvenience of traveling to other cities or counties for treatment.
With the support of operating expenses for obstetrics and gynecology, doctors and nurses were newly hired, and from 2015 to the present in 2022, 12,630 residents have received treatment.
Among them, 135 children aged 0-19, 3,161 women of childbearing age aged 20-49, and 9,334 non-childbearing women aged 50 and over visited the obstetrics and gynecology department for treatment purposes.
In addition, cervical cancer screening was conducted on 732 people. The significance of the donation is particularly notable in that cervical cancer screening was conducted at a health institution where cancer screening was not feasible due to circumstances.
The representative of the Nature Dream Seed Foundation stated that they will continue to take an interest in Gurye-gun's medical services to contribute to improving residents' satisfaction with medical benefits. They also pledged to strive to minimize medical exclusion phenomena occurring due to the rural characteristics.
Kim Sun-ho, Governor of Gurye-gun, said, "Thanks to the interest of private companies, the imbalance in medical benefits for rural residents has been somewhat resolved. I deeply thank the Nature Dream Seed Foundation for this and will continue to maintain a public-private cooperation system for local residents."
