Formation of Budget and Accounts Special Committee, Ethics Special Committee, Environmental Corporation Personnel Special Committee, and Credit Guarantee Foundation Personnel Special Committee

Gwangju City Council Completes Formation of Special Committee

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Council has completed the formation of special committees.


On the 25th, the Gwangju Metropolitan Council announced that it had formed the 9th Council Budget and Accounts Special Committee, Ethics Special Committee, Gwangju Environmental Corporation Chairman Personnel Hearing Special Committee, and Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation Chairman Personnel Hearing Special Committee, and completed the appointment of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons.


Park Heeyul was appointed as the chairperson of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, and Kim Yongim as the vice-chairperson. Members include Myungjin, Park Mijeong, Park Pilsun, Seo Yonggyu, Seo Imseok, Jeong Daeun, and Hong Giwol.


The Ethics Special Committee consists of Chairperson Jeong Daeun, Vice-chairperson Choi Jihyun, and members Kim Yongim, Park Pilsun, Shim Cheolui, Lee Gwisun, Lee Myeongno, Chae Eunji, and Hong Giwol.


For the Environmental Corporation Personnel Special Committee, Chairperson is Seo Seokho, Vice-chairperson is Choi Jihyun, and members include Kang Suhun, Park Pilsun, Seo Yonggyu, Shim Cheolui, and Lee Myeongno.


The Credit Guarantee Foundation Personnel Special Committee appointed Park Sugi as chairperson and Seo Imseok as vice-chairperson, with members Kim Yongim, Myungjin, Seo Yonggyu, An Pyeonghwan, and Hong Giwol.


Park Heeyul, chairperson of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, stated, “The budget is a crucial matter directly related to citizens’ lives, and the role of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee is more important than any other committee. We will do our utmost to ensure that the Gwangju city budget, funded by taxpayers, is properly used.”


Jeong Daeun, chairperson of the Ethics Special Committee, said, “The demand for transparency and accountability in local councils from citizens is higher than ever. We will do our best to establish a clean council image that Gwangju citizens desire and to become a council trusted by the citizens.”


Seo Seokho, chairperson of the Environmental Corporation Personnel Special Committee, emphasized, “The Gwangju Environmental Corporation is a key public enterprise that should take the lead in realizing a clean Gwangju by managing and operating environmental infrastructure closely related to citizens’ daily lives. We will do our best to verify candidates’ management capabilities and ensure transparency in personnel matters.”


Park Sugi, chairperson of the Credit Guarantee Foundation Personnel Special Committee, said, “The Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation supports the management stability and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, and the role of the head of the institution is crucial for improving the Gwangju regional economy. We will make every effort to thoroughly verify personnel in this special committee.”


Meanwhile, the terms of the members of the newly formed Budget and Accounts Special Committee and Ethics Special Committee are one year and are permanently operated, while the Personnel Hearing Special Committees plan to conduct personnel hearings around September to October after the candidate recruitment process for each relevant institution is completed.
