The local real estate markets in Busan, Chungcheong, Daegu, and other regions are buzzing with anticipation due to the development of metropolitan railroads. In particular, in Daegu, as the Daegu metropolitan railroad development continues smoothly, there is growing activity among buyers aiming to secure future value.
The Daegu metropolitan railroad is a metropolitan transportation network connecting Gumi~Chilgok~Daegu~Gyeongsan over 61.85 km, with a total project cost of 151.5 billion KRW invested by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Daegu City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, the Korea Rail Network Authority, and Korea Railroad Corporation. It is the first metropolitan railroad project initiated in the non-capital regions of Daegu, Gumi, and Chilgok, with the goal of opening in 2023.
The currently confirmed stations are Gumi-Sagok-Buksam-Waegwan-Seodaegu-Daegu-Dongdaegu-Gyeongsan. At these stations, two-car electric trains will stop every 15 to 20 minutes, and a transfer system between the metropolitan railroad, city buses, and the Daegu subway is expected to be established.
In particular, discussions are actively ongoing for extensions of the Daegu metropolitan railroad from Gumi to Gimcheon (Phase 2) and from Gyeongsan to Miryang (Phase 3). Once these subsequent phases are completed, the total length of the Daegu metropolitan railroad will reach 108.6 km, and it is expected to become a key line that unites the Gyeongbuk region.
An industry insider said, “Especially since the Daegu metropolitan railroad will connect with the planned Daegu-Gyeongbuk Line and Daegu Industrial Line, it is expected to be the starting point of a single living zone for Daegu and Gyeongbuk and the center of balanced regional development, attracting everyone's attention. As the opening approaches and full operation begins, the value around the Daegu metropolitan railroad is expected to increase further, leading to a steady influx of buyers aiming to secure future value around the stations.”
Meanwhile, near Daegu Station, which is expected to be a key station of the Daegu metropolitan railroad, news of new apartment sales is drawing attention.
Shinsegae Construction plans to launch sales of ‘Villiv Lucent’ in Chilseong-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu in July. The complex will consist of two buildings, from 4 basement floors to 47 floors above ground, with exclusive areas of 84㎡, 108㎡, and 113㎡, totaling 258 households, of which 232 households will be available for general sale.
The complex is located within walking distance of Daegu Station, making it a station-area complex expected to benefit from the Daegu metropolitan railroad. Also, since Daegu Station is adjacent, it offers convenient access to Daegu Line 1 and the Gyeongbu Line, and Dongdaegu Station, where KTX and SRT trains pass, is nearby, providing excellent metropolitan transportation networks. Additionally, road networks such as Taepyeong-ro and Jungang-daero are well established.

The Villiv Lucent model house is scheduled to open in July.
