CJ CheilJedang Accelerates 'Cookit' Meal Kit Business... Launches 5 Frozen Products

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] CJ CheilJedang announced on the 25th that it will officially target the meal kit market by launching frozen products under its meal kit brand 'Cookit' and expanding sales channels to all routes. Cookit entered the market in 2019, positioning itself as a premium meal kit brand, and has now introduced frozen products that enhance storage convenience according to consumer needs.

The newly released products include a total of five items: 'Yuksagadeuk Sobulgogi Jeongol' (Beef Broth Bulgogi Hot Pot), 'Spanish-style Gambas', 'Dongdaemun-style Dakhanmari' (Whole Chicken Stew), 'Spicy Mushroom Bibigo King Dumpling Hot Pot', and 'Seafood Jjamppong Bibigo Kimchi King Dumpling Hot Pot'. Rapid freezing technology was applied to each component such as meat and vegetables to maximize the freshness and taste quality of the raw ingredients, while reducing the volume by half compared to existing refrigerated products to improve storage convenience.

Cookit plans to continue releasing collaborative frozen products using popular brands such as 'Bibigo' and 'the Healthy'. Additionally, it aims to expand its sales channels to the online market, which holds the largest share among meal kit sales channels. Previously, sales were mainly through its own malls like CJ The Market and the Cookit app, but starting this month, it has entered open markets such as Coupang, Market Kurly, SSG.com, and Baemin B Mart. Furthermore, leveraging its existing cold chain infrastructure, Cookit products are now available in frozen sections of the three major large marts: E-Mart, Lotte Mart, and Homeplus.

A CJ CheilJedang official stated, "We plan to continue introducing various menus and services that reflect meal kit market trends and consumer needs," adding, "We will focus on nurturing Cookit as the representative brand in the meal kit market."
