So-yeon Yu (32) surged to a tie for 3rd place (9-under 133) on the second day of the fourth LPGA major, the Evian Championship (total prize $6.5 million), held on the 23rd (Korean time) at the Evian Golf Club (par 71, 6,527 yards) in Evian-les-Bains, France, by shooting 5-under par. Brooke Henderson (Canada) leads with 14-under 128, while Nelly Korda (USA) is in 2nd place at 11-under 131, three strokes behind, in a close chase.

Yu recorded six birdies and one bogey. Starting at the 10th hole (par 4), she gained momentum with consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, then swept four consecutive birdies from the 15th to the 18th holes. However, a bogey on the 6th hole (par 4) in the back nine showed a lack of finishing strength, leaving some regret. Nevertheless, she is now looking at her first victory in four years and two months since the June 2018 Meijer Classic. "My iron shots were so good today that I gained confidence," she said, igniting her fighting spirit.

Henderson fired a 7-under par storm shot for two consecutive days. Sei-young Kim (29) added 6-under par to join the tie for 3rd place, and 2014 champion Hyo-joo Kim (27) is aiming to reclaim the top spot after eight years from a tie for 5th place (8-under 134). World No. 1 Jin-young Ko (27) is tied for 11th (7-under 135), and ‘domestic No. 1’ Min-ji Park (24, NH Investment & Securities) is tied for 16th (6-under 136). Inbee Park (34) and Sung-hyun Park (29) were cut off.
