[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Dongwha Pharm announced on the 21st that it has released a commemorative edition of Hwalmyungsu in collaboration with the North American outdoor brand 'Stanley' to celebrate its 125th anniversary.
The Hwalmyungsu 125th anniversary commemorative edition features Stanley's signature color, 'Hammertone Green.' The Hwalmyungsu bottle label incorporates Stanley's classic lunchbox design with a silver buckle placed at the center. The packaging embodies Stanley's sensibility, reminiscent of Stanley's signature thermos bottle shape.
This collaboration is meaningful as it brings together Hwalmyungsu, a popular digestive aid that supported the independence movement with sales proceeds during the Japanese colonial period, and Stanley, which provided warm meals to soldiers as military supplies during World War II. Stanley's thermos bottles are known to have helped pilots and crew members maintain body temperature on the B-17 bomber, which led the Allied forces to victory during World War II, and even after more than 100 years, they are loved for their unique durability and performance in outdoor and everyday life.
A Dongwha Pharm official said, “We are pleased to carry out this meaningful collaboration between two brands that have saved many lives in Korea and the United States and have maintained solid values for over 100 years. We plan to continue communicating with consumers through fresh collaborations in various fields and will also continue to practice sharing based on Hwalmyungsu’s spirit of ‘water that saves lives.’”
The Hwalmyungsu 125th anniversary commemorative edition is a large 450ml product available at pharmacies, and through this collaboration, Stanley’s vacuum pint cup (473ml) featuring the Buchae logo and Hwalmyungsu logo will also be released.
