Urging Residents to Comply with Mask Wearing, Hand Washing, Disinfection, Ventilation, and Vaccination
[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 19th, Jeonnam Haenam-gun announced that as the trend of the nationwide resurgence of COVID-19 confirmed cases is becoming full-fledged, double-digit new confirmed cases continue to occur within the jurisdiction, and they are strengthening the quarantine system.
Along with this, they are urging stricter compliance with quarantine rules to ensure a safe summer during the summer vacation season, which is the first since the lifting of social distancing measures.
This resurgence is caused by factors such as increased population movement including tourists, the spread of variant viruses, increased use of indoor air conditioning, and decreased effectiveness of vaccinations.
The county is conducting special quarantine inspections on local festivals and events, infection-vulnerable facilities such as senior centers and nursing homes, and multi-use facilities (restaurants, lodging businesses) in preparation for the resurgence.
In particular, they plan to check the indoor and outdoor quarantine management status at sites crowded during the vacation season such as beaches, water play areas, and recreational forests, and continue to promote and campaign for compliance with personal quarantine rules to prevent the spread.
Furthermore, they are making every effort to reorganize the medical response system, including training infectious disease response personnel and securing hospital beds for rapid response.
They plan to expand 72 negative pressure beds including those at three dedicated infectious disease hospitals, and a total of 23 respiratory patient treatment centers, including 12 medical institutions providing one-stop services such as diagnostic testing and prescriptions, are operating regularly.
They continue to provide education for infectious disease response personnel at public health centers and preventive management education for workers at infection-vulnerable facilities, and have established an emergency contact system linking county public health centers, fire stations, and hospital emergency rooms for rapid treatment.
Since the 11th, the fourth COVID-19 vaccination target has been expanded to those aged 50 and over and those aged 18 and over with underlying diseases, and vaccination is being actively promoted to minimize severe cases and deaths.
A county official said, “To maintain daily life from COVID-19 and have a safe summer, we ask everyone to strictly follow the main personal quarantine rules such as wearing masks, washing hands and using hand sanitizer, regular ventilation, and vaccination,” and added, “We will continue to closely monitor changes in the resurgence situation and do our best to ensure the safety of residents and prevent regional spread through active response.”
