[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] JW Group announced on the 19th that it donated 50 million KRW raised through the employee step donation campaign ‘JW Joy-Walking’ to the Gwacheon City Disabled Welfare Center in Gyeonggi Province.

At the donation ceremony, Shin Young-seop, CEO of JW Chungwoo Pharmaceutical, handed over the donation to Lee Hak-jun, director of the Gwacheon City Disabled Welfare Center, and observed the rehabilitation site for disabled persons using robots.

The donation will be used to purchase wearable walking rehabilitation robots for disabled individuals with mobility difficulties. This robot is a medical device that assists rehabilitation training for disabled people who have difficulty walking due to cerebral palsy, stroke, spinal cord injury, and other conditions. When wearing the robot, disabled individuals can walk on flat ground and climb stairs independently.

The ‘JW Joy-Walking’ campaign is part of JW Group’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities called the ‘JW Green Campaign.’ It is a step donation program participated in by employees of 10 affiliated companies including JW Holdings, JW Chungwoo Pharmaceutical, JW Shinyak, JW Life Science, and JW Medical. The campaign was conducted through the mobile social contribution platform ‘Big Walk’ application from May 16 for one month, aiming for 100 million steps and 50 million KRW in donations.

JW Group employees achieved the goal of 100 million steps early, just 18 days after the campaign started. A total of 1,508 employees and their families participated over the month, recording a total of 185 million steps.

Shin Young-seop, CEO of JW Chungwoo Pharmaceutical, said, “I hope the steps of JW Group employees will lead to the courageous and challenging steps of people with walking disabilities through wearable rehabilitation robots,” and added, “We will continue to carry out social contribution activities that incorporate various ESG elements to promote and participate in company-wide ESG management.”
