[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The ruling and opposition parties continued negotiations on the organization of the National Assembly under the chairmanship of the Speaker on the 19th, but once again failed to narrow their differences.

The floor leaders of both parties met with the Speaker on that day and held negotiations for about 30 minutes but could not reach a conclusion.

Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, left first and told reporters, "There has been no progress yet."

Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, also met with reporters after the meeting and said, "We agreed to cooperate to finalize the remaining standing committee chair positions and the second half organization of the National Assembly by Thursday this week, so we met again today following yesterday," adding, "However, both parties are still appealing their existing positions and have not narrowed their differences."

He added, "The Speaker also said he would have individual meetings or meetings with the floor leaders of both parties in the future, so please give us more time and watch closely," and "We will have 2 to 3 more days for consultations."

Regarding the meeting that day, he said, "It was a process to check if there had been any changes in their positions during that time," and "The Speaker did not present any new mediation proposals today."
