[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Lee Hak-su, mayor of Jeongeup City, urged the public to make daily quarantine a habit on the 19th in preparation for the resurgence of COVID-19.
The city emphasized the need for citizens to strictly adhere to mask-wearing and personal hygiene management, as mobility increases during the summer vacation season and indoor activities rise in air-conditioned environments.
Since yesterday, the city has expanded the target group for the 4th COVID-19 vaccination to include people aged 50 and above, those aged 18 and older with underlying health conditions, residents and workers of facilities for the disabled and homeless, and is actively encouraging vaccination.
As of today, the daily number of new confirmed cases in Jeongeup City is 71. After gradually decreasing in May and June, when daily cases were below 10, the number has surpassed the 70s for the first time in two months.
Accordingly, the city expanded the 4th vaccination target from yesterday to include those aged 50 and above (born between 1963.1.1 and 1972.12.31) and adults aged 18 and older with underlying health conditions.
Previously, the target group was people aged 60 and above, immunocompromised individuals, and inpatients and workers at nursing hospitals, facilities, and mental health promotion facilities.
The 4th vaccination can be administered starting four months (120 days) after the 3rd dose, and in cases of overseas travel, hospitalization, or treatment, it can be given three months (90 days) after the 3rd dose.
The vaccines available for the 4th dose are Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax, and recipients can choose their preferred vaccine.
For confirmed cases, vaccination is recommended three months after the date of confirmation.
The vaccination method is the same as the 3rd dose, conducted at designated medical institutions.
Reservations can be made through the online reservation website, the COVID-19 vaccination call center, or by phone or visit to community centers, and vaccinations can be administered after reservation or on the same day using leftover vaccines.
Same-day vaccinations and advance reservations started yesterday, and vaccinations by reservation will begin on the 1st of next month.
A city official said, “Vaccination is the most effective and important response measure against the COVID-19 outbreak. We ask those aged 50 and above and adults with underlying health conditions to actively participate in vaccination to reduce the risk of severe illness and death.”
