[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) unveiled the catchphrase for the 8th term of the elected government, "Together! Change · Growth · Future Dobong," on July 15.
"Together! Change · Growth · Future Dobong" embodies the aspirations of residents wishing for Dobong-gu's development and change, the philosophy and vision of Mayor Oh Eon-seok for a harmonious district administration and principled governance that will propel Dobong forward during the 8th term. The new catchphrase will be actively utilized in implementing pledged projects and establishing mid- to long-term development plans.
The meaning behind this catchphrase is as follows: "Together Dobong-gu" signifies uniting the residents' strength and harmony for a Dobong where everyone lives well together. It expresses the will to respect differing opinions, listen to others' voices, realize a district administration that works with residents and keeps promises, and achieve a happy tomorrow together.
"Changing Dobong-gu" reflects the residents' desire for change and the commitment to bring about genuine change in Dobong that residents can feel. It signifies a vibrant Dobong where jobs, businesses, and people gather again.
"Growing Dobong-gu" represents growth as a dynamic economic city through regional development and completion of the gateway city transportation system, becoming a new economic hub in the northeastern region. To this end, the district plans to focus on key projects such as ▲ active support for protecting residents' property rights and revitalizing reconstruction and redevelopment ▲ support for small business owners and self-employed individuals and fostering specialized industries ▲ establishing a safe and convenient transportation system.
"Dobong-gu with a Future" portrays a future where youth achieve their dreams, small business owners and self-employed individuals regain vitality, the local economy revives, and children, women, youth, seniors, and people with disabilities live together in a community of hope and progress.
The catchphrase design visualizes the English word "dobong" in colorful circular shapes, expressing the district's new beginning to become a younger and more vibrant future Dobong. The rotating force of the circle symbolizes Dobong's change, and the endless form represents Dobong's continuous growth.
The district plans to apply the new catchphrase of the 8th term to official documents, notices, SNS, videos, and various promotional materials, and gradually to local living facilities and bulletin boards.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu stated, "We will communicate and harmonize closely with residents to create 'genuine change' that residents can feel. We will do our best to make Dobong a place where residents feel pride and anyone wants to live, with a better life and leisure."
Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) will hold the 2022 Yoon Dong-ju Literary Festival Award-winning Works Exhibition titled "Walking the Path with Dong-ju" from July 26 to November 30 around the Yoon Dong-ju Literature Museum area.
This is an opportunity to appreciate various artworks themed on the poetry of the eternal young poet Yoon Dong-ju.
To this end, the 9th National Youth Yoon Dong-ju Poetry Contest was previously held for middle and high school students nationwide, selecting 30 outstanding works demonstrating excellent artistry based on Yoon Dong-ju's poetry.
Additionally, once the winners of the 8th National Yoon Dong-ju Creative Music Festival are decided in September, the creative song videos will also be unveiled through this exhibition.
The award-winning works will be exhibited not only at the Yoon Dong-ju Literature Museum, which celebrates its 10th anniversary, but also at the Poet's Hill and Cheongun Literature Library to allow more citizens to enjoy the life and literary works of Yoon Dong-ju.
The exhibition aims to provide diverse visual experiences by combining digital and analog methods with videos containing audio recordings of Yoon Dong-ju's poetry recitations and original works.
For citizens who find it difficult to visit in person, a non-face-to-face exhibition will also be held on the Jongno Cultural Foundation's YouTube channel, allowing access anytime and anywhere.
Opened in July 2012, the Yoon Dong-ju Literature Museum was reborn as a literary space by preserving the original form of an abandoned water tank and pumping station. The area around Cheongun-dong and Inwangsan Mountain, where the museum is located, is where Yoon Dong-ju enjoyed walking during his time at Yeonhui Professional School. Nearby are the Poet's Hill and Cheongun Literature Library, making it a notable place honoring the poet's life.
Mayor Jeong Moon-heon said, "I hope this will be a time to put a pause in daily life by enjoying beautiful paintings and songs inspired by the poet's poetry."
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) conducted a loneliness death prevention education session on the afternoon of the 19th at the district office's basement 2nd floor in-house academy for social welfare workers and local care groups.
Since an elderly resident living in Cheongju was found dead in their home six months after passing away in 2009, "loneliness death" has emerged as a social issue.
Recently, with the increase of single-person households, aging population, and spread of individualism, loneliness deaths caused by "poverty of relationships" are rapidly increasing regardless of economic status or age group.
Dongdaemun-gu, which has a high proportion of middle-aged and elderly single-person households, proactively responded to the loneliness death issue by conducting prevention education through the Dongdaemun-gu Community Security Council, a public-private cooperative organization.
The loneliness death prevention education held from 2 p.m. targeted members of the Community Security Council, social welfare officials and workers, local care groups, and honorary social workers.
Notably, the session was led by Kim Seok-jung, a keeps Korea CEO and funeral administration welfare department adjunct professor at Busan University of Science and Technology, who gained attention from appearing on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block." The education covered ▲ analysis of causes of loneliness death through field cases ▲ characteristics by age, gender, and household type ▲ early stages and signs of loneliness death ▲ roles of prevention personnel ▲ identification of socially isolated households ▲ prevention cases from other regions.
Jang Yong-seok, Director of Welfare Policy, said, "We conducted prevention education to respond to the rapidly increasing loneliness death issue. As loneliness deaths caused by social isolation are rising regardless of age or economic level, public and private sectors will work together to solve the problem through community-centered relationship building."
Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) is recruiting the "Child Policy Participation Group," where children directly discover and propose policies.
Jung-gu announced that it is recruiting the "2022 Jung-gu Child Policy Participation Group" for children aged 11 to 13 (grades 4 to 6) who live in Jung-gu or attend schools in the area until the 22nd.
This Child Policy Participation Group was established to provide children with an opportunity to actively participate in the district's child policies, listen to and reflect their opinions, and create effective policies tailored to children's perspectives.
The recruitment target is about 15 members. Selected members will participate in various activities until November this year, including ▲ the Child Policy Participation Group inauguration ceremony ▲ education on children's rights and policy proposals ▲ problem identification, policy proposal writing, and promotional activities ▲ activity report meeting and closing ceremony.
During the activity period, children will be helped to recognize themselves as subjects of rights, not just protection targets, through understanding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and children's rights education. A discussion on creating child pedestrian safety will be held, providing children with opportunities to propose various pedestrian safety policies themselves.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form on the Jung-gu office website and sending it via email or registered mail (addressed to the Child Policy Participation Group officer, Education, Children and Youth Division, Jung-gu Office).
Meanwhile, Jung-gu was selected for the "Seoul Child-Friendly City Creation Autonomous District Special Project" this year and has made various efforts to become a child-friendly city, including resident participation forums, children's rights charter proclamation, selection of child-friendly city vision, and introduction of child impact assessments.
Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, "Along with the Child Policy Participation Group being recruited this time, we also operate the 'Jung-gu Youth District Administration Participation Group' for elementary, middle, and high school students to prepare customized policies from the perspective of children and youth. We will continue to listen carefully to opinions from various groups and ages and do our best to reflect them in policies."
