[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will provide the "3rd Geochang-type Disaster Relief Fund" of 100,000 KRW per person to all residents facing difficulties due to COVID-19 from August 29 to September 30.

The 3rd Geochang-type Disaster Relief Fund is 100% funded by the county budget and is the third installment following those in 2020 and 2021.

County Governor Goo In-mo is implementing this as the first pledge project of the 8th local government administration and has formed a TF team immediately upon taking office to expedite payment before Chuseok.

The payment target is all residents registered in the county from July 15 until the application date. The head of the household must visit the local eup/myeon office with their ID, or a household member aged 19 or older must bring their own ID, the head of household’s ID, and a power of attorney to receive the Geochang Love Card on the spot.

Also, if the applicant is a direct ascendant or descendant of the head of household or a spouse (including the spouse of a direct descendant), other household members must apply separately.

To minimize congestion at the application site, a concentrated application period will be operated from August 29 to September 8.

During this period, a 5-day rotation system based on the last digit of the household head’s birth year will be implemented, and dispersed applications will be conducted through methods suitable for each eup/myeon, including visiting application services.

The disaster relief fund will be provided immediately on-site as a prepaid card called the "Geochang Love Card" upon application, and it can be used like cash at all card-affiliated stores within the county.

However, it cannot be used for entertainment and gambling businesses, online shopping, or public utility fees. The card can be used until December 31, 2022.

Governor Goo said, "I hope the disaster safety relief fund will help the residents who are experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 damage and rising oil prices, ensuring their livelihood safety and revitalizing the local economy."
