Experience Rowing and Self-Directed Learning Guidance for Middle and High School Students in Ulju-gun
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] UNIST is recruiting participants for the ‘2022 UNIST Rowing Mentoring’ program. Any middle and high school students located in Ulju-gun can apply, and the application period is from July 18 to 20, lasting three days.
This year’s ‘UNIST Rowing Mentoring’ program offers local youth the opportunity to experience rowing, recognized as a world-class university sport, and provides guidance on self-directed learning methods and career paths through collaboration between UNIST and the county.
Participants will live on the UNIST campus for 3 nights and 4 days and engage in 1:2 mentoring activities with members of the UNIST rowing team.
Kim Hwan-wook, part leader of the UNIST Leadership Center, said, “Through the rowing experience, which is usually difficult to access, students can develop leadership, perseverance, teamwork, and consideration,” adding, “We plan to nurture each student’s career dreams through physical fitness improvement and learning method mentoring.”
Students participating in the program may also compete in various competitions such as the National Sports Festival representing Ulsan as members of the ‘Ulsan-UNIST Sports Club.’ The ‘Ulsan-UNIST Sports Club’ is a sports organization established by the UNIST rowing team after being selected for the Korea Sports Council’s sports club project last year.
This program plans to select around 20 participants regardless of grade or gender. Students wishing to participate can access the ‘2022 Ulju-gun Rowing Mentoring Application Page’ and enter a brief motivation statement and self-introduction. The announcement of successful applicants will be on July 22 and will be notified individually via text message. For additional inquiries, contact the UNIST Leadership Center.
The 2022 UNIST Rowing Mentoring is promoted as part of Ulju-gun’s ‘2022 Ulju Future Education i4.0 Campus’ project, with all experience costs fully supported by Ulju-gun and UNIST.
