Request to comply with daily quarantine rules such as wearing masks indoors and thorough hand hygiene
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] As the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has recently increased again, Namyangju City will expand the target group for the 4th COVID-19 vaccination starting from the 18th.
According to the city on the 17th, the target group for the 4th COVID-19 vaccination will be expanded from the current seniors aged 60 and over, immunocompromised individuals, and workers and residents of nursing hospitals and nursing facilities to include those aged 50 and over, patients with underlying conditions aged 18 and over, and facilities for the disabled and homeless shelters.
The city expects the number of confirmed cases to increase further due to the spread of COVID-19 variants and increased summer mobility, and urged people to refrain from face-to-face contact and to voluntarily follow life quarantine rules such as wearing masks indoors, thorough hand hygiene, observing cough etiquette, and maintaining social distancing.
Meanwhile, the daily average number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Namyangju City was around 100 throughout June, but it recorded over 200 cases in the first week of July and has been continuously increasing since then.
Jung Tae-sik, director of the Namyangju Public Health Center, urged, "COVID-19 is especially likely to spread in group living settings, and since there are many elderly and patients with underlying conditions, facilities vulnerable to infection with high risk should actively participate in the 4th vaccination to prevent severe cases."
