The number of new COVID-19 cases reached the 41,000 range.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) reported that as of midnight, 41,310 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 18,721,415. This is the highest number of new cases recorded in 66 days since May 11 (43,908 cases). It increased by 2,428 cases compared to the previous day (38,882 cases).


The number of new cases on this day was approximately 2.04 times higher than a week ago on the 9th (20,273 cases) and 3.85 times higher than two weeks ago on the 2nd (10,712 cases). The 'doubling' phenomenon, where the number of cases doubles every week, continued. Based on Saturdays, this is the highest number recorded in 11 weeks since April 30 (43,275 cases).


From the 10th to this day, the daily new cases for one week were 20,402, 12,682, 37,349, 40,261, 39,196, 38,882, and 41,310, averaging 32,865 cases per day.


Among the new cases, imported cases increased by 287 compared to the previous day, and domestic regional infections excluding imported cases were counted at 41,023.


The number of cases by region (including imported cases) were: Gyeonggi 11,448, Seoul 9,457, Busan 2,617, Gyeongnam 2,299, Incheon 2,127, Gyeongbuk 1,622, Chungnam 1,640, Daegu 1,335, Chungbuk 1,283, Ulsan 1,178, Jeonbuk 1,145, Gangwon 1,111, Daejeon 1,055, Jeju 967, Jeonnam 889, Gwangju 812, Sejong 305, Quarantine 20.


The number of critically ill patients increased by 5 from the previous day to 70. The number of COVID-19 deaths reported the previous day was 16. The cumulative death toll is 24,728, with a cumulative COVID-19 fatality rate of 0.13%.
