Pohang Mayor Lee Gang-deok Signs Business Agreement to Revitalize Pohang Jukdo Market

Daegu City, Gyeongbuk Province, and Jaedaegu Pohang Hyangwoohoe Form Sisterhood Ties

Pohang Mayor Lee Gang-deok Signs Business Agreement to Revitalize Pohang Jukdo Market Pohang City signed a sisterhood agreement on the 14th with Daegu City, Gyeongbuk Province, the Re-Daegu Pohang Hometown Association, and 18 other organizations to support the revitalization of Pohang traditional markets.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Dong-guk] Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang signed a sisterhood agreement on the 14th at the Laonzena Hotel in Daegu with 18 organizations including Daegu City, Gyeongbuk Province, and the Jaedaegu Pohang Hometown Association to revive Pohang traditional markets.


This agreement ceremony was held with the purpose of revitalizing the Pohang 'Jukdo Market,' one of the nation's top five traditional markets, by establishing a regular direct transaction mutual growth marketplace annually to promote the local economy. The event was organized by the Jaedaegu Pohang Hometown Association, with participation from three merchant associations of Jukdo Market, metropolitan entities including the Mayor of Daegu and the Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, as well as Daegu-based companies and private organizations.


On the same day, the inauguration and retirement ceremony of the Jaedaegu Pohang Hometown Association president and a sisterhood agreement ceremony for Yeongho-nam friendly cultural and artistic exchange between the Jaedaegu Pohang Hometown Association and the Jaegwangju Yeosu Hometown Association were also held.


This sisterhood agreement for the Pohang traditional market revival movement was promoted under the leadership of hometown association members residing in Daegu, actively participating in the hometown traditional market revival movement, fostering active exchanges and continuous friendship enhancement between Yeongho-nam regions. The hometown association members have been playing a vital role as a bridge between Pohang City and other institutions by participating in various city events.


Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “I am grateful to the hometown association members, including the president of the Jaedaegu Pohang Hometown Association, for their interest in revitalizing traditional markets and the local economy,” adding, “I hope this traditional market revival movement will serve as an opportunity to widely promote Pohang’s excellent agricultural and marine products to consumers in other regions.”
