Kim Jin-bu, Chairman of Gyeongnam Provincial Council, Invites Former Council Chairmen for Development Discussion

Listening to Various Advice for a 'Council Truly for Residents Only'

Chairman Kim Jin-bu of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council invited former chairmen to seek various advice for realizing a council truly dedicated to the residents.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] On the morning of the 15th, Kim Jin-bu, Chairman of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council, invited former chairpersons to his office to seek various advice for realizing the 12th Provincial Council's first half basic policy of "a council truly for the residents only."

At the meeting, a total of seven former chairpersons attended, including the eldest Nam Gi-ok (5th late term ~ 6th early term), Jin Jong-sam (7th late term), Lee Tae-il (8th late term), Heo Gi-do (9th early term), Kim Oh-young (9th late term), Kim Yoon-geun (10th early term), and Kim Ha-yong (11th late term). They candidly discussed the policy direction and development plans of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council.

The former chairpersons attending the meeting emphasized the role of the council regarding the recently high-interest issues such as the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Special Union and balanced regional development.

They also expressed hope that following the independence of personnel authority in local councils, the independence of organizational authority and budget authority would also be achieved to realize a truly autonomous and decentralized council.

Chairman Kim said, "The current local councils, where local autonomy is being strengthened, would not have been possible without the dedication of former chairpersons who contributed to the development of the council." He added, "I will carefully listen to the valuable opinions of senior members active in various fields and actively reflect them in council activities."

The former chairpersons also pledged, "We will continuously convey the voices from the field of public livelihood to the council and actively cooperate in the development of council activities."
