‘Yeongju Punggi Ginseng’, Serving as a Diplomat with Outstanding Benefits … Diplomats from Four Central Asian Countries Visit the ‘Punggi Ginseng Museum’ Diplomats from four Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan) visiting the Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Museum.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Diplomats from four Central Asian countries?Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan?and officials from the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat visited Yeongju City on the 14th.

This visit was conducted to enhance the regional image through excellent cultural tourism experiences in Gyeongbuk and to lay the groundwork for the "Solid Road Project," which aims to combine Central Asia's resources and labor with the industrial technology and capital of Gyeongbuk companies.

On the day, about ten officials visited the Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Museum, where they received comprehensive explanations about the 500-year cultivation environment, history, characteristics, and efficacy of Punggi Ginseng. They showed great interest in Punggi Ginseng, which has a high content of effective saponins and excellent immune-boosting effects.

The city actively promoted the region’s first international event this fall, the "2022 Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo," to the visitors and revealed plans for registering Punggi Ginseng as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, making various efforts to spread Punggi Ginseng to Central Asia.

Ji Chang-seon, Deputy Secretary-General of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, said, "It was meaningful to visit Yeongju City, imbued with the spirit of Seonbi, and it was a precious time to see firsthand the excellence of Punggi Ginseng, known nationwide." He added, "I wish for the success of the Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo and would like to revisit Yeongju during the Expo if given the opportunity."

Jeong Gyo-wan, Director of the Expo Planning Team, expressed gratitude to the diplomats from the four Central Asian countries visiting the city and said, "Through the successful hosting of the '2022 Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo,' we hope Punggi Ginseng will be reborn as a global health food icon worldwide, including Central Asia."

The 2022 Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo, under the theme "Ginseng, Embracing the World and Opening the Future!," will be held for 24 days from September 30 to October 23 at the Punggi Ginseng Culture Popup Park area in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk. Tickets can be purchased through Yes24 Ticket, the Expo website, and agricultural and livestock cooperatives within Yeongju City.
