[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] McDonald's Korea announced on the 15th that the 'Boseong Nokdon Burger Festival,' held at the lawn square of the Korean Tea Culture Park in Boseong, Jeollanam-do, successfully concluded with the participation of 1,500 Boseong residents.
This event was organized by McDonald's to commemorate the launch of their new menu item, the Boseong Nokdon Burger. McDonald's explained that it provided residents of the Boseong area, where there are no McDonald's stores, with an opportunity to experience the Boseong Nokdon Burger and offered various programs for mutual engagement, which received great responses.
According to McDonald's, many local residents visited the pop-up store, 'McDonald's One-Day Boseong Branch,' showing high interest in the Boseong Nokdon Burger. Long lines of local residents eager to taste the burger formed in front of the pop-up store, and scenes of people enjoying the burgers were noticeable throughout the venue. Comedian Kim Shinyoung attended as the one-day store manager, entertaining visitors with her cheerful wit.
The participatory programs, 'McDonald's Sports Club' and 'Pop-up Playground,' were very popular among child visitors, and the burger-making class and OX quiz event also attracted much attention.
'Trot Queen' Song Gain and the Yuk Joongwan Band performed congratulatory shows, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
At the opening ceremony, officials including Kim Giwon, CEO of McDonald's Korea, Kim Cheolwoo, Governor of Boseong County, and Moon Geumju, Vice Governor of Jeollanam-do, attended and delivered congratulatory speeches. In his opening remarks, CEO Kim said, “McDonald's has maintained a special relationship by sourcing lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and other ingredients from Jeollanam-do, and this time, we were able to introduce a special burger to many people using Boseong’s agricultural specialties. We will continue to offer delicious products made with domestic ingredients to provide pleasant moments to our customers.”
Governor Kim Cheolwoo of Boseong County said in his welcome speech, “The popularity of the Boseong Nokdon Burger after its launch is tremendous. I believe that along with the burger’s popularity, the local specialties that Boseong County is proud of, such as green tea and Nokdon pork, will also gain wider recognition.”
