[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Yeongyang County Chapter of the Korean Red Cross conveyed the warmth of neighborly love by sharing summer health food Samgyetang to over 150 households of elderly living alone and marginalized groups in the area on the 14th, in celebration of Chobok.
About 30 members of the Yeongyang County Chapter prepared carefully cooked Samgyetang for the elderly, wishing them to overcome the hot summer healthily.
Volunteers who prepared the Samgyetang with sweat visited the homes of elderly living alone, checked if they had any discomfort due to the heat, and spent meaningful time having conversations.
Hwang, an elderly resident of Ilwol-myeon, expressed continuous gratitude, saying, "It must have been difficult to prepare Samgyetang because of the heat, but I am very thankful. Thanks to this, I think I can overcome the summer heat well and stay healthy."
Oh Do-chang, the governor of Yeongyang County, said, "I will pay more attention to ensure that there are no marginalized or struggling neighbors in the area," and added, "I am grateful to the members of the Korean Red Cross Yeongyang County Chapter who volunteer together despite the hot weather."
