[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Major domestic economic organizations collectively expressed their condolences regarding the shooting death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated on the 9th, "We express our deep condolences to former Japanese Prime Minister Abe, who passed away in this tragic incident," adding, "We hope this matter will be resolved soon so that the Japanese people and the business community can recover from the shock."
The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) also said, "On behalf of the Korean business community, we express our deepest condolences on the sudden passing of former Prime Minister Abe," and "We sincerely offer our sympathies to the bereaved family and the Japanese people who must be greatly shocked by this event."
The FKI further added, "Korea and Japan are the only allies in East Asia pursuing common values of liberal democracy and market economy," and "The sudden passing of a former leader of a neighboring country is a very regrettable event as close neighbors, regardless of political and diplomatic relations between the two countries."
The Korea Employers Federation (KEF) also expressed condolences the previous day, saying, "We pray for the repose of the deceased, who was the youngest and longest-serving prime minister in Japanese history and respected by the Japanese people," and "We also extend our condolences to the Japanese people and the bereaved family."
Former Prime Minister Abe was shot while campaigning in Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Japan, the previous day. He collapsed after being shot and was transported to a hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.
