[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep condolences and sympathy on the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the 8th.


In a spokesperson's statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "We express our deep condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family and the people of Japan on the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe." It added, "Our government strongly condemns this shooting incident as a violent criminal act that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances."


Former Prime Minister Abe was shot and killed during an election campaign on the same day. Medical staff in charge of emergency medicine at Nara Prefectural Medical University Hospital, where Abe was treated, stated, "He was already in cardiopulmonary arrest upon arrival at the hospital," and "He died at 5:03 p.m."


Former Prime Minister Abe was confirmed to have two gunshot wounds on the right side of his neck. Although the medical team located the bleeding points and performed surgery, it was reported that there was no success.
