Concerns Over Possible Resurgence of Infections, Government Urged to Prepare Thoroughly
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] Prime Minister Han Duck-soo completed his 4th COVID-19 vaccination dose on the afternoon of the 8th at the Jongno-gu Public Health Center.
On this day, the Prime Minister's Office announced that Prime Minister Han, who falls under the government's recommended 4th dose vaccination target group (those aged 60 and above and immunocompromised individuals) since April, received the vaccination as the recommended timing for the 4th dose (4 months after the 3rd dose and 3 months after COVID-19 diagnosis) had arrived. Prime Minister Han received his 3rd dose last December and was diagnosed with COVID-19 in March.
After the vaccination, Prime Minister Han expressed concerns about the possibility of a resurgence of infections due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, expanded indoor activities during the summer, and increased travel and contact during the vacation season, urging the government to prepare thoroughly.
He also emphasized the importance of vaccination and the preventive effect of the 4th dose against severe illness, encouraging active participation from the elderly and other relatively immunocompromised individuals eligible for the 4th dose.
