Establishing Export Promotion Measures Through Quarantine and Post-Harvest Management Technologies

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services held a "Symposium on Quarantine and Post-Harvest Management Technologies to Promote Peach Exports" on the 7th at the Sangju Agricultural Technology Center together with the Gyeongbuk Peach Export Agricultural Technology Support Group.

On this day, about 100 people attended, including members of the Gyeongbuk Peach Export Agricultural Technology Support Group, the Peach Producers Association, the Rural Development Administration, and officials from city and county agricultural technology centers.

This symposium was planned to overcome recent difficulties caused by domestic peach supply instability and price declines and to promote the revitalization of the peach industry.

At the symposium, presentations and lively discussions were held on the current status of peach exports and improvement measures for problems, peach export guidelines of major countries, pruning techniques before peach harvest, and post-harvest quality management methods.

The Peach Export Agricultural Technology Support Group has been providing on-site customized comprehensive consulting for the entire process from peach production to export since 2016, supported by the Agricultural Research and Extension Services, to enhance farm competitiveness.

Shin Yongseup, Director of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services, said, "We will promptly resolve issues in the export field through continuous research and education, and foster regional specialized peach export complexes through various comprehensive technical support."
