Governor Park Wansu Heads to Yeouido Just 6 Days After Inauguration... "Securing National Funds Essential to Revive Gyeongnam Economy" On the 6th, Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, attended a meeting with People Power Party members of the National Assembly from the Gyeongnam region to secure national funding for local issues.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, visited Yeouido, Seoul on the 6th to secure national budget funds.


On that day, Governor Park attended a meeting of the People Power Party's Gyeongnam regional lawmakers along with Lee Dal-gon, the provincial party chairman, Kim Young-seon, member of Changwon Si Uichang District, and 14 other lawmakers from Gyeongnam constituencies.


At the meeting, Governor Park emphasized, “Budget for discovering new industries to revitalize the Gyeongnam economy, such as the early commencement of Jinhae New Port, Southern Inland Railroad, and Namhae-Yeosu Undersea Tunnel, is urgently needed.”


He then proposed eight projects in the industry and employment sectors, including the establishment of a support hub for full-cycle standardization of natural materials, and 12 projects related to regional infrastructure construction such as the first phase of Jinhae New Port construction, requesting cooperation in budget allocation.


He also presented seven cultural tourism projects including the construction of the National Gaya History and Culture Center, five social safety and health projects such as comprehensive maintenance projects for flood and wind disaster living zones, and ten agriculture, fisheries, and environment projects including support for pre-processing facilities for oyster shell resource recycling.


He led discussions on the establishment of the Aerospace Agency, the creation of metropolitan transportation infrastructure, balanced east-west development in the Gyeongnam region, provincial administration issues, and local civil complaints.


Governor Park said, “The government has announced a mandatory 10% reduction in discretionary spending and strong expenditure restructuring in next year’s budget formulation,” adding, “I hope lawmakers actively cooperate to ensure smooth progress of large-scale national projects and secure national funds for newly discovered projects.”
