The Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) announced on the 7th that it recently received approval for the Gwangmyeong Hakon Public Housing District plan from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Gwangmyeong Hakon District is a residential district where 4,317 houses will be built on a 684,000㎡ site in the Gahak-dong area of Gwangmyeong City to stabilize housing for low-income residents and workers of the Gwangmyeong Siheung Technovalley.
In particular, the Gwangmyeong Hakon District is adjacent to the urban high-tech industrial complex within the Gwangmyeong Siheung Technovalley, and 72,000㎡, which is 11% of the total area, is planned as urban support facility land, expected to create synergy effects for regional industrial development and job creation.
GH will start the design phase in the second half of this year, proceed with construction next year, and aims to complete the project by the end of 2026.
The Gwangmyeong Hakon District will have the new Hakon Station on the Sinansan Line, which connects to Seoul (Yeouido), scheduled to open in 2026. Especially, a cultural park centered around Hakon Station will be developed as a pedestrian-focused specialized space.
Jeon Hyung-su, Acting President (Vice President) of GH, stated, "We will steadily promote the Gwangmyeong Hakon District development project to foster it as a key hub city in the southern metropolitan area."
