[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] HMM announced on the 7th that it has received the international certification ISO 45001 in the field of safety and health. This is a safety and health management system certification created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 2018 to prevent hazards and industrial accidents in the workplace.
The company established manuals according to ISO requirements, conducted risk assessments for each task, and formed an Industrial Safety and Health Committee. The company explained that it received excellent evaluations for training internal auditors and efforts to prevent industrial accidents.
In January of this year, the company created a dedicated safety and health organization and newly hired managers in the health and safety fields. Kim Gyu-bong, HMM’s Head of Safety and Health, said, "We will proactively respond to management culture policies regarding corporate social responsibility, such as the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act and strengthened compliance with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)."
