Muscle Pain and Arthritis Treatment 'Ketotop' HanDok Achieves Cumulative Sales of 300 Billion KRW

8 Years Since Acquisition of Taepyeongyang Pharmaceutical's Pharmaceutical Business Division

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Handok announced on the 7th that it held a ceremony to celebrate the achievement of cumulative sales of 300 billion KRW for 'Ketotop,' a topical muscle pain and arthritis treatment product managed by Handok.

The cumulative sales of 300 billion KRW for Ketotop by Handok is a result achieved eight years after Handok acquired the pharmaceutical division of Taepyeongyang Pharmaceutical in 2014. At the time of acquisition, Ketotop had annual sales of about 20 billion KRW, which Handok more than doubled, surpassing 40 billion KRW in 2019, and aiming for 50 billion KRW this year.

After acquiring Ketotop, Handok has continued large-scale investments to secure the product's quality competitiveness. In 2017, it invested 33.7 billion KRW to complete a plaster factory in Eumseong, Chungbuk, and has continuously improved the product and launched various products reflecting customer demands.

Since its launch in 1994, Ketotop has led the OTC topical anti-inflammatory and analgesic market for nearly 30 years. Ketotop works by penetrating the skin to directly exert anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects on the affected area. In addition to the original product, there are various sizes of 'Ketotop Band Type Mixed,' which can be wrapped around fingers and wrists like a band, 'Ketotop Hot' and 'Ketotop Hot Band Type' with added heat sensation, and 'Ketotop Hot Mini,' which can intensively treat localized pain.
