Leading AI and Semiconductor Talent Development... SKT and SK Hynix Join Hands with Universities An employee is introducing the 'SK ICT Curriculum' platform, a practical talent development program based on SKT and SK Hynix.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] SK Telecom and SK Hynix announced on the 7th that they will implement the 'SK ICT Curriculum,' which delivers practical knowledge and field know-how from industry experts to universities to nurture talent in artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors.

SKT and SK Hynix are working to overcome the shortage of AI and semiconductor talent and to cultivate skilled professionals with practical capabilities by establishing an online education platform, developing formal curricula, and offering university-tailored special lectures.

The two companies have built an online education platform that combines AI content, in which SKT specializes, and memory semiconductor content, in which SK Hynix has expertise. SKT provides 77 video lectures across 10 fields focusing on voice-based AI technologies such as speech recognition, natural language understanding, and speech synthesis through the 'SKT AI Curriculum.' AI experts from SKT introduce a wide range of topics from technical theory and the latest algorithms to actual AI service development cases. Along with over 100 training videos exclusive to SKT employees, materials presented at various technical events by SKT are also provided to support students' learning. Now in its sixth year, the 'SKT AI Curriculum' has been taken by more than 4,000 students at over 20 universities nationwide.

SK Hynix has newly established the 'Semiconductor Curriculum.' It offers more than 80 educational contents across 12 major job-related fields such as semiconductor processes, devices, and design. Based on the expertise and field know-how of SK Hynix professionals, the curriculum is designed as a practical learning course. To help students engage with the content easily and enjoyably, a semiconductor glossary and short-form videos are also provided.

SK Hynix has decided to share some of the educational content from its in-house university, SKHU, which is operated for its employees, with external educational institutions such as universities. Through this, students can learn specialized knowledge without financial burden, while the company aims to foster the semiconductor ecosystem and contribute to creating social value.

SKT and SK Hynix are also actively offering customized special lectures for each university. In collaboration with Seoul National University, the two companies are developing and planning to open formal courses in AI and semiconductor technology education. This fall, a course titled 'Understanding SKT's AI Technology and Commercialization' will be offered at Seoul National University Graduate School. A bachelor's course on 'Engineering Knowledge and Practice' based on SK Hynix's semiconductor development cases is also scheduled to be introduced.

The two companies plan to continuously expand specialized courses at universities such as Korea University, Seoul National University, and Yonsei University through business agreements starting from the 13th. Along with delivering knowledge related to AI and semiconductors, they will provide diverse learning experiences including company visits and career counseling.
