[Seoul District News] Strengthening Resident Communication with 'Jungnang Masil' - Commitment to Carefully Handling Even Small Local Matters · Text Reports Possible at 010-4907-2094... Guro-gu Open Mayor's Office Website Renovated
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] “It was dark and scary because the streetlight went out in a secluded area. I remembered the direct text message to the district mayor and sent a message, and they immediately checked it, so the street became bright. Thank you so much.”
On the evening of the 5th, Mr. A was walking around the neighborhood when he noticed a streetlight was out. He recalled the district mayor’s direct text message number and sent a message. The next day, when the streetlight was repaired, Mr. A sent a thank-you message again.
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has opened and started operating a 'Dedicated Mobile Phone for Direct Text Messages to the District Mayor' from this month, allowing residents to directly convey their grievances and suggestions to the district mayor.
The district mayor’s direct text message service is a civil complaint channel that simplifies the reception process as much as possible so that the district mayor can directly listen to residents’ inconveniences, grievances, and suggestions and promptly handle civil complaints. The district expects that residents will be able to resolve inconveniences easily and conveniently while actively communicating with residents via text messages.
This direct phone line was established as one of the measures to strengthen resident communication and participation among the seven visions of the 8th elected term, meaning that the district mayor will personally take care of even small matters related to the region.
The phone number (refer to the information poster) is available for any resident with inconveniences, suggestions, or grievances to send text messages. It operates on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents can receive responses and progress updates on their complaints via text messages.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Following ‘Jungnang Masil,’ which listens to residents’ voices directly on-site, we will get closer to residents and listen actively through this direct mobile phone. We will do our best to strengthen communication by paying close attention even to the smallest voices of residents.”
Meanwhile, in addition to the district mayor’s direct mobile phone, the district operates ‘Jungnang Masil,’ the main resident communication channel. Since the launch of the 7th elected term in 2018 until March this year, a total of 105 sessions have been held. The district visited various living sites such as schools, daycare centers, markets, and sewing companies to meet residents from all walks of life, receiving 794 suggestions on local issues and resident inconveniences, of which 656 cases (84.4%) have been completed.
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) has revamped the ‘Open District Mayor’s Office’ website.
On the 7th, Guro-gu announced, “In line with the inauguration of the 8th elected term District Mayor Moon Heon-il, the main design and menu of the ‘Open District Mayor’s Office’ website have been reorganized.”
The ‘Open District Mayor’s Office’ website is highly accessible as it is located at the top right of the first screen when accessing the Guro-gu Office website via PC or mobile, and it is also linked to the ‘Guro 1st Street’ and ‘Wishes to the District Mayor’ sites, which listen to residents’ various opinions.
The homepage features District Mayor Moon Heon-il’s greeting and biography, along with the 8th elected term district administration goals composed of ▲Advanced Industrial City ▲Empathetic and Communicative Guro ▲Guro as a Good Place to Study ▲Safe and Healthy Guro ▲Guro with Many Jobs ▲Equally Prosperous Guro.
In the middle section, the ‘On-site Photos with Residents’ menu is placed to vividly convey the district mayor’s activities.
At the bottom, links to Guro-gu’s SNS, blog, and YouTube allow residents to check the latest news, and a new menu ‘Guro in the Media’ has been added to easily view various district administration news reported in the media.
The slogan, pledges, and detailed projects will be posted after thorough review by the relevant departments.
A Guro-gu official said, “We expect that the website’s accessibility and convenience will be enhanced through this reorganization,” adding, “We will listen to residents’ voices and carry out an administration that empathizes and builds trust.”
