On the 6th, the People Power Party Gwangju branch issued a statement saying, "It is known that Gwangju City is currently in contact with a total of four companies to attract the 'Gwangju complex shopping mall' promised by President Yoon Seok-yeol during his candidacy."
They added, "One company has also revealed plans to build a large-scale complex shopping mall in Gwangju that surpasses the one established in Seoul," and stated, "We welcome Gwangju Metropolitan City's active efforts to build a complex shopping mall."
They also urged, "We hope that the complex shopping mall desired by Gwangju citizens and youth is recognized not simply as a 'shopping mall' but as a 'complex cultural space' that integrates various cultural experiences such as leisure, rest, and entertainment, and that the project is promoted accordingly."
Furthermore, they requested, "Considering that traffic congestion may occur in the area once the complex shopping mall is built, site selection and traffic measures must be carefully planned. We also hope continuous attention is given to the lack of living SOC in the Gwangju area, such as the aging amusement park, absence of a driver's license test center, and issues with early morning delivery."
They concluded by adding, "The People Power Party will also actively cooperate with Gwangju Metropolitan City's efforts to attract the complex shopping mall."
