Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Drone Team Searching Around Han River
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] It has been confirmed that a woman in her 20s, a working professional who went missing near Gayang Station on Seoul Subway Line 9 on the 27th of last month, left a note presumed to be a suicide letter.
According to a compilation of reports from Asia Economy on the 6th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul discovered a Korean document presumed to be a suicide note at the home of Kim Ga-eul (24), who disappeared near Gayang Station on the 27th of last month. The note was found on a tablet PC owned by Kim and contained messages such as "Will, I hope no one mourns my death."
In response, the police are conducting search operations considering various possibilities, including the possibility of an extreme choice.
On the day of her disappearance, the 27th of last month, Kim was last seen on Gayang Bridge. After taking a taxi, Kim got off near Gayang Station around 10:22 PM and walked toward the southern end of Gayang Bridge. Around 10:56 PM, a bus black box passing nearby recorded Kim standing on the southern end of Gayang Bridge.
At 11:01 PM, when Kim called 119 reporting that "my sister might have collapsed at home," other bus black box footage showed her still standing at the same location.
Eight minutes later, at 11:09 PM, bus black box footage passing the same location no longer showed Kim. Afterwards, Kim’s family reported her missing to the police around 11:37 PM.
The police have been searching the Han River waterfront once each in the morning and afternoon since the day after her disappearance, the 28th of last month. From the 1st of this month, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency deployed drones.
A police official stated, "So far, there is no evidence to suspect any criminal involvement," and added, "We will continue the search keeping all possibilities in mind, including the possibility of an extreme choice."
