Shinhan Bank Signs Agreement with Korea Legal Aid Corporation for Free Legal Services to Vulnerable Groups

375 Million KRW Donated Over 5 Years... Free Legal Consultation and Litigation Support for Vulnerable Groups

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Shinhan Bank announced on the 6th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Legal Aid Corporation to support free legal services for vulnerable groups.

This business agreement was promoted as part of Shinhan Bank's representative social contribution project, the 'Donghaeng (同行) Project.' The signing ceremony was attended by Jin Ok-dong, President of Shinhan Bank, and Kim Jin-su, Chairman of the Legal Aid Corporation.

The free legal service for vulnerable groups is a support service in which Shinhan Bank donates a total of 3.75 billion KRW over five years, and the Korea Legal Aid Corporation provides free legal consultations and litigation support to vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, marriage immigrants, and persons of merit. Additionally, legal education on daily life will be provided to multicultural families, North Korean defectors, and youth to help prevent unexpected legal disputes or damages.

A Shinhan Bank official stated, "In reality, vulnerable groups often cannot receive legal assistance due to economic reasons when legal disputes arise," adding, "We hope that the support for free legal services will be an opportunity to provide practical help so that those in need can resolve unfair situations without suffering injustice."

Meanwhile, since last year, Shinhan Bank has been promoting the Donghaeng Project, a long-term support initiative rather than one-time aid, to provide basic living support and practical self-reliance for various socially vulnerable groups. So far, it has supported various vulnerable groups including abused children, children suffering from food insecurity, multicultural families, elderly living alone, single-person households, suicide survivors, and children in childcare facilities.
