Korea Habitat Presents Plaque of Appreciation to Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Office.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Habitat for Humanity Korea Daegu·Gyeongbuk Chapter held its regular board meeting this year on the 6th at the Daegu Inter-Burgo Hotel.

At the board meeting, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Deputy Governor Kang Seong-jo on behalf of Governor Lee Cheol-woo.

Habitat for Humanity Korea explained the purpose, saying, "We are presenting this plaque of appreciation because Gyeongbuk Province has actively participated in the Habitat movement to provide homes of love to neighbors in need, greatly contributing to giving dreams and hope."

Habitat for Humanity was founded in the United States in 1976 with the vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

In Korea, starting with the establishment of the Habitat Korea Movement Headquarters in 1992, 11 chapters including the Seoul Chapter are active.

Since 1994, they have supported homes for about 24,000 households suffering from poor housing conditions.

The province, in cooperation with the Habitat Korea Headquarters and the Gyeongbuk Chapter, supported 25 households in 15 cities and counties over two years from 2020 to improve the housing environment for descendants of independence activists, and plans to select and support an additional 10 households this year.

Also, to support young people in the province living in poor housing conditions, 10 units of Hope Mobile Youth Housing were selected through a public contest and provided in Yeongdeok, and 10 more units will be selected and supported this year.

Kang Seong-jo, Deputy Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "The province will continue to support project budgets in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity Korea to build comfortable homes for residents suffering from poor housing conditions and to deliver hope."
