[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Western Fire Station announced on the 5th that it conducted a joint fire drill with the Kia Motors factory's self-defense fire brigade to prepare for a fire outbreak within the factory.

The drill will be conducted over two days until the 6th, simulating a fire outbreak at the factory's hazardous material tank. The purpose is to cultivate the rapid initial fire suppression response capability of the Kia Motors 1st and 2nd factory self-defense fire brigades and to solidify the support and reinforcement posture with the fire station in case of fire spread, thereby minimizing casualties and property damage to the citizens of Gwangju.

Jo Ho-ik, Head of the 119 Disaster Response Division, stated, “Since the Kia Motors factory is a major fire protection target receiving love and attention from the citizens of Gwangju, we will pay special attention and focus all efforts on minimizing damage even if an unexpected fire occurs through fire drills tailored to its characteristics.”
